Aruba wireless mesh routers combine a unique multi-radio, multi-frequency architecture and adaptive Layer 3 technology to bring high-performance networking to outdoor environments where wired connectivity is impractical or unavailable.

The wireless mesh routers feature multiple 802.11a/b/g/n radios for flexible outdoor wireless mesh deployments using the 2.4-GHz, 5-GHz and the 4.9-GHz U.S. public safety band.

Each radio can be individually configured to operate as an AP for secure Wi-Fi client access or as a point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and full mesh backhaul at distances up to 10 miles. This multi-radio architecture separates access and mesh backhaul data while optimizing radio resources for both traffic types to ensure fast throughput.

Unlike legacy mesh products that rely on Layer 2 switching and spanning tree, which results in scaling impediments, the Aruba solution employs high-performance routing to deliver unparalleled speed, scale and reliability. Additionally, Aruba wireless mesh routers ensure low latency and seamless handoffs for voice, video and other real-time applications across the outdoor wireless mesh network.
